Today I Quilted This! and A Quilter's Cove QAL is joining up for a linking party. I would have posted them separately but the only thing that I have to share is my latest house in the Quilter's Cover. So please join the linking party for both.
Aqua Fairy House
The colour of the month for July is aqua - you know, like teal and all of its variations. This time, I wanted to make a fairy house.

As I was designing this block, I wanted to add large foliage to contrast with the Fairy. When looking in my stash, I found this amazing background of large flowers. That meant that I didn't have to add lots of large flowers to go with it.

This week I've had very little energy to FMQ the Rainbow Neighbourhood quilt. I'm glad that I started thinking about and making the Fairy house before the energy all ran out!
What I learned
- I know that I don't do well with deadlines but this is worse than ever. Oh well, I decided to FMQ the very large areas of the quilt as well as the border blocks so that I can trim and bind the quilt before the party. If it's not bound, it will be trimmed so that it's more presentable. Then I'll bring it home and finish it in August.
- For the Fairy house, I just grabbed teal scraps and made the top of the house and then the bottom. As I mentioned above, I went into my stash to find large foliage fabric to add around the house. That's when I found the perfect background of large flowers.
- I then added the attic window border.

Here are the posts that included FMQ, ruler work and walking foot quilting last week. Thanks for linking up 😊 and consider grabbing the button.
Gwyned Trefethen felt like playing so she made this lovely rabbit quilt. You can see the FMQ on both sides of the quilt. The pretty pops of pink flowers are great.

Sally of Painted Thread finished FMQ this lovely sage baby quilt. Here are a couple of photos. There are FMQ waves in the diamonds and loops in the white. Sally stitched in the ditch with her walking foot and that helped her figure out what designs to use for the rest of the quilt.

Linking party for I Quilted This!
and July's A Quilter's Cove QAL

Your teal house is wonderful! It's like it is nestled in a special hideaway, hidden amongst the foliage! Well done!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Terry. That's exactly what I was going for :-)
DeleteYour fairy house is adorable, Andree! Every month I love seeing the adorable things you add to your house design. Where do you find them? I love the fairy on the snail especially! Thanks for hosting us!
ReplyDeleteThanks Diann, I've been buying novelty fabrics for a long time - but all of the fairy fabric was given to me as scraps! I think that my favourite quilting is making these types of blocks and quilts. They can be so fun and whimsical. Thanks so much for joining us. I'm going over now to check out your house :-) Have a great weekend.
DeleteI like your fairy house and your wonderful flowery background with the bird and butterfly. Also, of course, that fantastic fairy on the snail :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Janine. It was such fun to make!
DeleteI love your fairy house, Andree. It is really cute and I particularly love the little hummer you added! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brenda. It was so much fun to make.
DeleteUsing the large floral for the fairy house was an inspired idea. It turned out really cute. Hope you have more energy this week for stitching stuff.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Kate - I'm really happy that I found the fabric in my stash....that says too much about the condition of my stash - I really need to do something about that. I hope that the energy will come back. Now that I'm not focusing on getting the Rainbow Neighbourhood quilted, I feel better. Crazy how stress works! Have a great weekend.
DeleteThat fairy house looks like it was a fun project that let you indulge your inner child, and it turned out great.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Rebecca - my inner child is screaming to get out so sometimes I have to listen :-)
DeleteOh boy, that Fairy House looks like it was a fun project! Perfect background fabric for sure. I keep wanting to do a garden themed quilt and now I have to put in my notes that if I do, I have to include a FH block in it! Love the new FMQ Link-up idea and will keep it in mind for some upcoming projects that will feature stitching.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vivian, and I hope that you do end up linking up!
DeleteWhat an adorable Fairy house!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Alycia :-)
