Hexies and FM Mavericks

Hi and welcome. I don't have much to share today except for a few hexies 😊 It's amazing what a couple of days of cool weather can do for my mood - I'm back! 😉

Hexies

I had to go to Fabricland last week for more thread and of course found some cool fabric on sale! I was very reasonable but I did find fabric that would be perfect for making hexies. There wasn't as much variation in the pattern as I had hoped but enough to make one flower! They'll play nicely with the others.

In the garden this week, this beauty came out. It would make a gorgeous art quilt!

Beautiful flower - so transient but immortalized here

What I learned
  • The hexie party on Instagram that I usually join finished a few weeks ago. I missed it but I'm hoping to make a few more hexie flowers - in summer, it's easier and more portable to do than embroidery.
  • There's not much to say except that this week I would have estivated deep in a cave if I could have. I do better in the cold ❄😊
  • I'm now good for a while - the weather is cool and our AC will be installed next week!

Linking parties
I'll be linking up to many fun linking parties. You might want to check some out! Feel free to link up below.

Free Motion Mavericks

I'm in the process of making changes to the Free Motion Mavericks linking party. I've hired a friend's daughter who is studying design, so I hope to have a new look, name and button for the linking party, as well as a new logo and header for the blog. It's been a long time coming.

So, welcome to week 537 of Free Motion Mavericks! It was a very productive week! Thanks for linking up. Here are the projects from last week that included FMQ, ruler work or walking foot quilting.

Gretchen has finished quilting her pile of compassion quilts. It's been such fun to see! Here are her last two quilts, zippy strippy quilts, made from a jelly role quilt that was too big and so got cut in half with borders added. The turquoise quilt was quilted a ½" from the ditch and then the border while the peach quilt was quilted-in-the-ditch and then at 2" intervals.

Gail from Quilting Gail finished her Glowing Hearts Quilt-a-long quilt that was hosted by Sandra Walker of mmm quilts. Gail quilted it using Silly Moon's 4" and 3" rulers. What a great quilt! Check out Gail's blog for more details and the link to the Glowing Hearts Parade!

Vicki of Vicki's Crafts and Quilts made this cute Criss-Cross cuddle quilt. She FMQ it with free-hand flower swirls. It's a quick and lovely design!

Donnalee made this mini wall hanging before buying the pattern to the Rosemary & Thyme quilt. It makes a great little hanging!

Melva from Melva Loves Scraps made this sentimental quilt from her daughter's baby dresses and blankets. She has lots of treasures included in it. Check out her post for more details.

Frédérique of Quilting Patchwork Appliqué made a second fabric card - this time for Father's day. If you're curious about her process and how she thread painted her tree, check out her post!

Linda from Flourishing Palms is in the process of quilting this lovely black and white diagonal quilt that has spots of colour. It's so fun! She shared with us a FMQ site - you might want to check it out!

  1. The hexie flower is very cute, a version of a I Spy. Peonies are so pretty and fragrant, enjoy! I'm glad you're getting air conditioning soon, as someone who didn't have air conditioning until 3 years ago, it's wonderful!
