My first baby quilt on Throwback Thursday

Welcome to Throwback Thursday. I'm co-hosting with Sandra from mmm! quilts. We will take turns hosting on alternate months.

My first baby quilt

My son was looking for something in his closet last weekend and took out his first baby quilt. I made it with my mother in 1991! We picked out a cute dinosaur wallpaper border and made the quilt from the design.

I don't really remember making the quilt but I do remember making the matching skirt and bumper pads for the crib - so it's possible that my mom made most of the quilt - but I did draw the design using the projector that she borrowed. We'll just call it a collaboration 😊

wallpaper at the top of the image.

  1. Aw! I love it! I made bumper pads for the crib too! Now apparently, not allowed... Like me, you had bright items in the crib for the baby to look at! And, I spy a Busy Box! (precursor to the iPad, ha) Thanks for hosting Andrée!

    1. They sure change their minds about what to do and not do, don't they. I'm glad that we survived it all! So that's why my son is so into the latest technology! Glad to host - it's a pleasure :-)

  3. How fun that you have pictures of your son with his quilt as both a baby and an adult. I love how he came across it when he was looking for something else. My son’s baby quilt was also made with a tracing from his wallpaper border.

    1. Thanks Janine Marie - those really were they days of wallpaper borders and matching quilts! My son was actually looking for the pillow covers that my mother made for his quilt - which I am going to re-produce since it's pretty much finished! I should be talking about that one soon. Take care.

  4. Hello Andrée,
I bet your son loved his quilt when he was tiny, especially with the bobbly blue crest along the dinosaur's back.
Such a sweet baby. Hasn't he grown!

    1. Hi Janine, I'm glad that the quilt is still around. It has been cherished, although not as much as the quilt my mother made him - it's now in shreds and I promised to reproduce it for him. That's a big project for this year :-)

  6. That is such a sweet baby quilt! What a wonderful collaboration. I am sure you did more than just drawing the design, and it is a fabulous design too :)
